The Holy month of Ramadan is designed to serve as a restorative, rejuvenating, meditative experience that nourishes the soul and elevates the spirit. It is also an opportunity to observe and cultivate the lofty Islamic values and practices of social cohesion, community, generosity, service, family, unity, contemplation, in all of their scintillating beauty. This tour was curated to offer you a unique and authentic environment in a Muslim country to fully reap the blessings of Ramadan, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Itinerary

March 21-22 - Marrakesh & Agafay Desert

Marrakesh is Morocco’s main tourism hub, and an enchanting city known for its rich and diverse spiritual heritage. It is home to the Seven Saints who were respected mystics and renowned community leaders. 

Arrival is expected during the day on March 21, with the first gathering being the iftar at sunset around 6:30 pm which will be followed by the opening lecture on the inner meaning and benefits of fasting.

Key highlights:

  • You will stay in an oasis of serenity, in the city’s palm grove.
  • You will enjoy a guided visit of the city’s most special gardens, ancient Koranic school, palaces, and spiritual sites.
  • You will enjoy a meditative walk or camel trek over the dunes of the Agafay desert (located 1 hour south of Marrakesh) before sunset. 
  • You will experience an epic iftar in a luxurious camp followed by an open spiritual conversation around a campfire.

March 23 - Casablanca

Casablanca is Morocco’s economic heartbeat and home to the Hassan II Mosque which represents an extraordinary architectural prowess as it is half built on waters of the Atlantic ocean and half on land. It is a jewel and a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and Moroccan craftsmanship.

Key highlights:

  • You will experience a guided tour of the Hassan II Mosque.
  • You will join a group of volunteers from a local community service organization to help set up an iftar for people in need, and break the fast with them in a spirit of unity.
  • You will be invited to partake in the evening taraweeh prayer with tens if not hundreds of thousands of people at the Hassan II Mosque, a once in a life-time experience!

 

March 24 - Rabat

Rabat is the nation’s administrative capital and a lovely city on the Atlantic ocean.

Key highlights:

  • You will visit some of the historical and spiritual sites, including a 12th century fortified citadel.
  • You will take a meditative walk on the beach, on the Atlantic ocean.
  • You will join the tour facilitator’s multi-generational family and learn how to prepare and enjoy a traditional Moroccan iftar.
  •  You will enjoy a session of meditation, poetry and mystical songs offered by a local community, before heading to Fes.

March 24-25 - Fes

Fes is Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital and one of the most ancient Islamic cities, home to the oldest university in the world, Al Qarawyyin, founded by a woman philanthropist before becoming one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the Islamic golden age.

Key highlights:

  • You will experience staying in a riad, a traditional home and guest house in the old town (medina). 
  • You will visit the medina, historical and spiritual sites, crafts districts and workshops, and meet with members of local communities.
  • You will enjoy an evening of prayer, meditation, Koran recitation with a local community.

March 26 - Sefrou

Sefrou will offer you a countryside and retreat experience, 45 mins away from Fes. It is home to an ecolodge and retreat center which is a 100-year old private family estate, with marvelous views on the surrounding hills and olive groves.

  • You will enjoy some personal and free time to regroup, and do what your soul desires.
  • You will enjoy a ftour made of some of the finest local and organic cuisines from the Moroccan countryside and berber traditions. 
  • You will be uplifted by star gazing and a meditative silent walk at night led by our host and owner of the family estate.

March 27-28 - Chefchaouen-Dardara

Chefchaouen, known as Morocco’s blue city is a true pearl that was founded by Andalusian mystics. The serenity and beauty of the city has enchanted travelers from around the world. 

Key highlights:

  • On the way to Chefchaouen, you will enjoy the magnificent landscapes of Morocco’s off the beaten path countryside, stop at cooperatives and shop for local and cosmetic products.
  • You will also visit the city of Ouazzane, a spiritual center known throughout the Muslim world and home to Dar Dmana.
  • You will stay in a lovely and authentic haven of peace in the outskirts of Chefchaouen, in Dardara, home to a unique guest house known for its exquisite cuisine made from local organic produce and traditions of Northern Morocco.
  • You will visit the city of Chefchaouen, its gates, main square and charming blue-colored streets.
  • You will meditate on top of a mountain, Jbel Allam, and visit the resting place of Moulay Abdeslam Ibn Mashish, a world-renowned mystic. He was the guide of Abu Hassan Al Shadili who established one of the largest sufi communities in the world. You will be introduced to his descendants and local spiritual figures who will recite his precious prayer, Sala Al Mashishiya, as a blessing to your presence and visit.  
  • You will enjoy an iftar made of local organic produce in the Bouhachem National Park after taking a restorative walk in the woods surrounded by oak trees, in the blessed company of descendants of Moulay Abdeslam Ibn Mashish.
  • You will experience an evening of “Hadra Chefchaouniya”, an elegant choir and mystical singing performance led exclusively by women from a local community. 

March 29-Departure from Chefchaouen at 8:00 am-Airport transfer to Casablanca (ETA: 2:00 pm) and Marrakesh (ETA: 4:30 pm)

Suggested contribution: US $ 4,690 based on double-occupancy. Extra fee for single room: US $ 1,850 (based on availability in all partner properties) A $ 200 discount is offered for registration by February 24, 2025.

A portion of your contribution will be donated to a Casablanca-based charity organization that provides food for people in need (our host), and to a traditional Koranic school in Southern Morocco that hosts young students to become “hafiz”.

Adnane Raiss is the Founder and Chief Experience Designer of Noorish, a US-based travel agency specialized in curating experiences that nourish the senses, the mind and the soul with loving Light. Adnane has been on a mystical path for over two decades, studied under revered teachers in Morocco, and led numerous spiritual retreats and events in Morocco and the United States. He holds a Master’s of Arts in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from the American University in Washington, DC as a Fulbright Scholar.

He has collaborated with several global and local organizations in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, interfaith dialogue, community empowerment, preventing violent extremism, and international development as independent consultant for over 25 years in 30 countries.

His intimate knowledge of Morocco and global travel has focused on spiritual heritage, social gastronomy, cooking, agro-ecotourism, crafts and farming cooperatives, beekeeping, organic and local produce, wellness, off-the beaten path and immersive experiences, hence his unique ability to curate tours that offer nourishment from a holistic lens. He lives between Morocco, the USA, Turkey, the Balkans, and wherever the wind of his soul takes him.
